Mr Holland's Opus Foundation donation
Our students here at Whitney Elementary School just received a very special gift -- $12,000 worth of new musical instruments. Our orchestra teacher, Christa Rowland, wrote a grant and received this money from the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. This foundation donates instruments to music programs across the nation. We received 14 new instruments including trumpets, saxophones, violins, and cellos which will be used by Whitney students for years to come. Thank you to the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation for this wonderful gift!
Dual Language Grant
The Dual Language Program here at Whitney also received a wonderful gift. We received a grant for $10,000 for Spanish books that our Dual Language students will be able to use. Those books are already here and the children are excited about the new books that they can check out.
